Our Story
High Tech Turning is an award winning, precision production machining company, located in Watertown, Massachusetts. We serve the medical device, electronics, aerospace, and other high tech industries throughout the U.S. For 40 years, we have grown in size and expertise in the use of CNC milling and turning machines to efficiently produce high-accuracy, fine finish component parts.
HTT has special expertise in precision machining and micro machining of stainless steel, titanium, aluminum alloys, and various engineering plastics. We also work with tricky materials such as nickel, tool steel, magnesium, kovar, precious metals, and more. Our customer base runs the gamut from large global corporations with mature product lines to start-up companies launching their first device.
History & Mission
40 Years in the Making
High Tech Turning was founded in 1985 by President & CEO Paul Heanue, a skilled manufacturing engineer, who recognized the potential of then novel CNC Swiss machines which could outperform traditional cam-operated lathes. From our early days, we’ve focused on technological innovation, repeatability, and precision, gradually expanding our machining operations by investing in state-of-the-art, multi-axis CNC turning and milling equipment.
Today, HTT is a thriving two-generation family-owned business. In 2017, seasoned engineering leader Taylor Heanue joined forces with his father, Paul, to lead the company into the future. Over the years, HTT’s leadership has developed a highly talented team, with most of our engineers and machinists averaging decades of experience.
Located a stone’s throw from the Charles River, HTT has always been headquartered in the heart of the Greater Boston high tech marketplace. Today, the company operates out of a 15,000-square-foot facility in Watertown, MA, with 40 employees and over 35 CNC machines, producing multi-millions of precision parts annually.
Though we’ve grown, our core mission has remained the same: to deliver the highest quality precision components, on-time and at a fair price. This philosophy is encapsulated in our “One and Done” approach, which emphasizes completing complex parts in a single operation to maximize efficiency, value, and consistency for our customers. We are ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 certified, ensuring that our manufacturing and quality control processes meet rigorous international standards—particularly important for our work with medical device components. Our continuous improvement culture is supported by robust quality management systems and inspections throughout the production process.
One of our key strengths is our commitment to building long-term relationships. Many of our customers have been working with HTT for decades. This focus on loyalty and repeat business reflects our broader commitment to partnership and consistent performance. In recognition of our excellence in precision machining, High Tech Turning was named one of the Top 10 Shops in the U.S. by Modern Machine Shop—a testament to our leadership in advanced manufacturing.
Over four decades, HTT has evolved from a forward-thinking startup into a trusted production partner for Fortune 500 leaders. By combining cutting-edge technology, skilled craftsmanship, and a relentless commitment to quality, we will continue to deliver precision parts that meet the highest standards for today and the future.
